All My Storage :Use SkyDrive, Dropbox, and local files in One app


AllMyStorage is a free Windows 8 application that allows you to bring together your local storage, your SkyDrive and your Dropbox accounts into a simple, easy to use metro interface.
If you are using Windows 8 laptop or tablet with limited storage, then this app will be very helpful  to you for  tying together your cloud and local files.This Windows 8 app  allows you to access your SkyDrive or Dropbox files, without filling your hard drive.This simple app  ties  your cloud files with an explorer-like view of your local files; thus providing access to all your files through one common interface.
AllMyStorage links SkyDrive, Dropbox, and local files into a single, attractive and convenient dashboard, allowing you to play local media files, stream cloud media from Dropbox and move your stuff around between local system, SkyDrive and Dropbox.

How All My Storage Works

On your first run of the application All My Storage will request access to your Known Folders Documents Library. This will allow the application to create a default account “My Local Documents”. To navigate into the account simply click the orange header bar. This opens a simple File Explorer from which you can navigate your local system.

Linking A Cloud Storage Account

You can link as many Dropbox and Local Storage accounts as you want. Only one SkyDrive account is currently relevant.
1. Expose the AppBar on Recently Used Files Screen or Manage Accounts Screen by tapping or right-clicking the screen.
2. Select MANAGE ACCOUNTS button in AppBar.
3. On the MANAGE ACCOUNTS Screen you can Add/Remove/Suspend Cloud Storage Accounts such as SkyDrive and Dropbox (future versions of the application will include several other providers such as Azure, Amazon, Carbonite etc). You can also link to further local storage account folders for quick access.
4. Click the LINK NEW ACCOUNT AppBar button – this will open the registration screen where you can select which type of account you wish to link.
5. Select either “My Local File System” and provider a root folder location, or select SkyDrive or Dropbox from the list provided.

6. Give your account a name = “e.g. Larry’s Dropbox” or “My SkyDrive” and Click the Link button.
7. Click the Allow button on the Account Information Opt-In screen after agreeing to our Privacy Policy.
8. If the account you are linking to is from a 3rd party provider(SkyDrive/Dropbox), you will need to enter your account credentials in the dialog provided on the “Connecting to a service” screen. Please note we do not store any of your personal information.
9. If the account you are linking to is from a 3rd party provider(SkyDrive/Dropbox) you will now need to authorize All My Storage to access this account – do so.
10. Adding an account will create a reference to your cloud storage account and allow interaction from this dashboard.
ALL DONE :-) Your new account will appear on the Recently Used Files screen and the management screen. You can now navigate your newly linked account by clicking on the Orange Header Bar of the account on the Recently Used Files Screen or the Account Icon on the Manage Accounts Screen.

Removing A Cloud Storage Account

Removing an account will remove its reference from All My Storage but not affect the actual account.
1. Expose the AppBar on Recently Used Files Screen or Manage Accounts Screen by tapping or right-clicking the screen.
2. Select MANAGE ACCOUNTS button in AppBar.
3. Select the account or accounts you wish to remove by tapping or right-clicking the account.
4. Click REMOVE ACCOUNTS in the AppBar
